Information sent to current Garden Central website users via email/mail on March 12, 2010
At the March 8, 2010, OSFGC, Inc.’s state board meeting the following motion was passed:
“#14 That OSFGC pay up to $700.00 to provide a website service for interested OSFGC clubs to self-manage their own club’s website.”
As a service to our member clubs, the state garden club is establishing a website to replace the Garden Central services which end on March 31. If your club is interested in continuing your website presence via this solution, please contact the state garden club’s website chair, Patty Sorensen via email: pdsorensen@comcast.net or phone: 503-472-1216
The resolution that was passed covers the costs of the initial design and setup of a website that you will be able to maintain yourself after an initial training. Training costs are the responsibility of each individual club. The estimate is the training will cost no more than $50 per club.
There may be an additional fee of approximately $15 per year, depending upon the number of clubs that use this service, to pay for the domain management. That yearly cost estimate should be determined by April 1.
This process will not be completely established prior to March 31. We are moving as quickly as possible so your site will not be affected longer than necessary. We are working with a consultant to create a website design that will meet the needs of your clubs. This may look a bit different than Garden Central format has, but should allow you to continue communicating your club’s information on the web in a very similar manner.
In order to easily transfer your current website information to the new website, please print a copy of each page. If you have the skills to copy/paste, then the best solution is for you to also copy/paste each page into a separate folder on your computer. This will prevent the need to retype the information onto the new website. If you require help with this, please contact Patty Sorensen.
We hope our service will allow you to serve your members and the public with a viable garden club website. We’ll keep you informed of further developments. Check the state website for updates as they become available. http://oregongardenclubs.org
